I have been a visual perceptual therapist and reading specialist for 18 years. I worked for, and was trained by, Developmental Optometrists who specialized in treating visually related reading and learning disorders. I received my certification as a vision therapist in 2003.

I now operate Student Learning Recovery, a uniquely styled tutoring center for all types of reading and learning disorders.  Prior to becoming a visual perceptual therapist, I was an education counselor for the emotionally and mentally disabled ,and a vocational counselor for The Federation of the Handicapped in N.Y. I have over 15 years teaching experience with special needs clients. I also have specialized Dyslexia training.

Our program at Student Learning Recovery is a multidisciplinary , one -on -one approach that combines  visual/perceptual/ motor  therapy,  special education, and brain skills training into a program designed to benefit students with reading and learning disorders.  We treat beginning Readers having  trouble mastering the alphabet, difficulty blending sounds and poor decoding skills, slow readers of any age , Readers that decode well but do not retain comprehension, Readers on grade level but hate to read, and Non readers. (students with severe reading difficulties)

We implement visual perceptual training in conjunction with academic tutoring to build skills in Tracking ,Visual discrimination and Form Constancy, Visual closure, Visual memory, Visual auditory integration, Visual motor integration and Visual information processing skills ; many poor readers score low in the percentile range when tested for these abilities needed for academic success.
